Sid Moore golfed for two seasons at Southern Arkansas in 1973 and 1974 after initially lettering in golf at Louisiana Tech University. A native of Magnolia, Moore becomes the first golfer to be inducted into the SAU Sports Hall of Fame.

In his first year at SAU, Moore finished tied for 5th-place at the AIC Championships with a two-round score of 153. A year later, Moore captured the individual title at the 1974 AIC Championships as he posted a 36-hole score of 145. The individual championship for Moore was the first for the men’s golf program since 1965 when David Waddle captured the AIC title. It is also the last time a men’s golfer has won an individual conference championship for the Muleriders.

After his collegiate career came to a close, Moore continued to golf and achieved significant success along the way. Among his post-college exploits, Moore claimed stroke play titles at Haynesville in 1974 and 2014, Ouachita Valley in 1980 and the Oil Belt in 1981. A member of the Arkansas Mid-South Cup team in 1981 and 1982, Moore was also a medalist at the Arkansas State Amateur in 1981.

In 2008, Moore qualified and competed in the 2008 USGA Senior Amateur Championships at the Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth Texas. At that amateur championship, Moore made the cut through stroke play and advanced to the round of 64 match play where he narrowly lost his opening match 2&1.

A local Magnolia golf legend, Moore captured his first Magnolia Country Club – Club Championship in 1966 at the age of 16 and most recently in 2012 at the age of 62. In between those two victories, Moore won the event on 10 other occasions.

Most recently, Moore was the super senior champion at the Mystic Creek Golf Club Stroke Play Championship in 2017.
